How many wedding guests can Glenapp Castle accommodate?
We can host weddings for 2 – 250 guests. With a variety of stunning indoor and outdoor possibilities, we will find the perfect space for your group size, with marquees required for guest numbers exceeding 100.

What wedding packages do you offer?
We have a variety of packages to cater to all sizes of weddings – you can browse these here. However, as each and every wedding at Glenapp Castle is entirely unique, these packages are simply a starting point to be tweaked and personalised in line with your dreams and wishes!

Is it possible to hire Glenapp Castle exclusively for my wedding?
Yes. On exclusive use bookings we literally ‘close the doors’ to all other business and you and your guests have the exclusive use of the Castle, the whole team, all 21 luxury Castle Bedroom Suites, and the 110 acres of stunning private gardens and grounds for the duration of your time with us.

Do Glenapp Castle host elopements or small weddings?
Yes, Glenapp Castle is a small, boutique Castle, making it the perfect venue for these intimate events. In fact, we have an Intimate Wedding for Two package, which can also work beautifully for romantic proposals and intimate vow renewals. For small weddings with slightly more guests in attendance, you may wish to privately rent our Victorian Glasshouse for the day, which provides the perfect level of exclusivity and radiance for the celebration, with the sunlight flooding in by day and a starry sky appearing by night.

What types of wedding ceremonies can be held at Glenapp Castle?
Glenapp Castle is licensed for civil, religious, and humanist ceremonies. Our team have a wealth of experience hosting beautiful weddings of all types, involving a wide variety of cultures and traditions.

Can Glenapp Castle help with the wedding planning?
Yes! You are offered with our compliments, the full services of our fabulous team of Wedding Planners, who are highly skilled in planning not only the big day itself, but your entire stay at Glenapp Castle, including all dining, experiences, and accommodation. The team will work with you via Zoom calls (or in-person if you wish to visit the Castle) to put every single perfect detail in place – you are in very safe hands with their expertise.

Do Glenapp Castle have recommended wedding suppliers or vendors?
Yes, our Wedding Planners have gathered a list of our recommended suppliers based in the local area, which covers everything from hair stylists, makeup artists, and florists to live music, photographers, and celebrants. However, you are not under any obligation to use their services and you can bring in any supplier you like.

Can I host a ‘destination wedding’ at Glenapp Castle?
Yes! Our wedding planning team has special experience in planning incredible destination weddings, bringing together guests from all over the world. Although many couples choose to visit the Castle before their big day as part of the planning, we also host celebrations for couples who have never set foot in Scotland before! We can easily show you around Glenapp via virtual tour also – just ask us and we will happily set this up for you.

How far in advance should we book our wedding at Glenapp Castle?
We always recommend that couples get in touch at their earliest convenience to give themselves plenty of time to secure their dream date and enjoy the magical planning process.

How do we book a wedding date?
Our dedicated team are on hand to discuss potential dates – get in touch by making an enquiry here. Once you land on your dream date, we ask for a non-refundable 50% deposit to ‘lock in’ the date, and then the final 50% is not due until 30 days prior to arrival.

Can I arrange a tour / virtual tour of Glenapp Castle for my wedding?
Absolutely, we would love to welcome you to the Castle for a tour and to have a chat about your plans in person. It is the best way to witness the Glenapp magic for yourself! Alternatively, we can arrange virtual tours via Zoom for those who are based further afield. Please contact our team here to make your appointment.
Accommodation

Is accommodation available for our guests on site?
Yes, our 21 magnificent bedrooms can accommodate up to 42 guests in total, with a few extra beds available for children. The Castle Penthouse Suite is particularly special for the bridal party preparations and celebrations, and you can click here for a virtual tour of the space.

Do you have a Bridal Suite?
Yes – we have 3 different but all equally incredible Bridal Suites to choose from, and you can read more about these here. Some couples choose to stay in here, whilst some prefer to stay in the Castle Penthouse Suite – this is completely personal preference.

Is nearby accommodation available in the local area?
Yes, there is a variety of local accommodation, including luxury cottages situated just a couple minutes’ drive from the Castle. There are also numerous nearby hotels ranging from 3 to 5 stars, situated 20 – 30 minutes from the Castle, with something to suit every budget. We are on hand to help with transport for guests staying nearby.

Do Glenapp Castle provide the wedding catering?
Yes. We are a fully catered hotel, so we have a brigade of talented chefs that will create fabulous dining experiences for you. Being part of the Relais & Chateaux family of hotels for over two decades means that fabulous food and wonderful wine cellars are in our DNA.

Can we arrange a menu tasting before the wedding?
Of course – we welcome you to come and taste all of our talented Chef’s recommendations, and they will gladly meet with you to chat through your thoughts and feedback. After this experience, your wedding planner will work alongside Chef to perfect the final menu.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?
Yes, we are experienced in catering to all kinds of dietary requirements and preferences.

What are the spaces for an indoor wedding?
Firstly, the majestic Castle Drawing Room is situated in the heart of the Castle and is perfect for any element of your day, with elegant dining rooms spanning off each side perfect for additional space. Moreover, our Victorian Glasshouse and adjoining Bothy are radiant spaces for the wedding celebrations, with an indoor-outdoor feel and sliding doors out to the patio with views over the Azalea Pond. For smaller more intimate celebrations, our cosy Castle Library is a beautiful option.

Are there options for an outdoor wedding?
Yes, Glenapp Castle has two stunning gardens, perfect for ceremonies or drinks receptions. Firstly, the Italian Gardens with views across the seascape towards the iconic Ailsa Craig, with the Castle as the dramatic backdrop. And secondly, the Walled Gardens, which pre-date the Castle itself, filled with rare trees and plants and home to our radiant Victorian Glasshouse.
Additionally, our Castle Lawns are a beautiful ceremony spot, surrounded by woodland, and once again, with the Castle as the backdrop. For smaller, more intimate ceremonies, our Azalea Pond or private Gazebo area offers the most peaceful, serene ceremony location. We have even hosted a spectacular ceremony in the heart of the woodlands before, so the possibilities are endless.

What happens in case of bad weather for outdoor weddings?
We always have a ‘Plan B’ indoor backup for any element of your big day – we are located in Scotland after all! Our team will keep a close eye on the weather forecast in the lead up to the big day and make a final decision 24 hours before the wedding.

Is there a Church nearby?
Yes, the beautiful Glenapp Church is conveniently located on the Estate just a 10-minute drive from the Castle. However, there are a wide variety of churches in the local area, catering to all guest numbers, from the larger Inch Church in Stranraer (25 minute drive) to the quaint Ballantrae Church (5 minute drive).

What time can the evening celebrations run until?
We have a license until 1am but can request a later license if required – just ask.

Is there parking available for our guests?
Yes, we have plenty of on-site parking at the Castle and free valet parking service. We are also delighted to provide 4 individual electric car charging points: two Porsche charging points, which are universal chargers that can fit all electric vehicles, and two Tesla charging points. Additionally, coaches and buses are able to access the Castle.
