King Robert The Bruce Course Turnberry

Martin Ebert, who was the architect responsible for the reborn Ailsa, was commissioned once more to create the King Robert the Bruce, which is a world class golf experience which will thrill golfers of all abilities. Breath taking vistas from the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th of King Robert the Bruce delight golfers, with spectacular views of Turnberry’s stunning coastline, castle ruins and the lighthouse.  The overall design concept for the course has been to introduce fairway bunkers with sand faces and marram grass “eyebrow” faces tempting “risk or reward” shots whilst greenside bunkers are shaped and neatly riveted to require perfect recovery shots. With 18 holes of magnificent golf, the King Robert the Bruce course reinforces Trump Turnberry’s reputation as a true golfer’s paradise.

Royal Troon

Boasting two different courses; The Portland and The Old Course, Royal Troon exceeds expectations and is a challenge even to a master of the sport. Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts, Troon Golf Club outgrew its local reputation. Royal Troon is widely accepted as the most demanding of any course on the Championship rota.  Players on the Old Course should make their scores on the outward nine, as the prevailing north-westerly wind can make the back nine extremely difficult. With the wind to contend with, and deep rough interspersed accurate shot making is essential. The Portland is a little more sheltered than the Old Course and, of course, shorter. The holes meander through terrain filled with gorse and broom and has a generous helping of Par 3s, five in all.

Western Gailes

The reputation of Western Gailes as one of the game’s finest and more exacting courses has spread worldwide as evidenced by its numerous visitors from around the world including golfing legends from this and the last century. The course is situated between the railway and the sea, so typical of the classic Ayrshire links courses, with both being very much in play for the errant golfer.  It is also special amongst seaside courses that are no more than two holes wide, in having its clubhouse in a more or less central position leaving seven holes to the north and eleven to the south. Together with the line of dunes running down the coastal stretch from the 5th to the 13th holes, the out of bounds wall from the 14th onwards, the plentiful supply of bunkers plus the meandering burns, all combine to present variety and a memorable challenge.
